Heartfelt words, memories, hope and commitment

World AIDS Day messages loud and clear

Dec. 1 World AIDS Day events in the Harrisburg region underscored the message - HIV is still here. Get tested.

Throughout last week public programs, a story-circle memorial for longtime AIDS advocate John Folby were held by Hamilton Health Center, Alder Health Services, and the LGBT Center of Central PA. Collectively, more than 200 people attended programs in which people delivered heartfelt spoken words, danced, remembered those who have died, and professed hope and commitment to ridding the world of HIV.

The deadly infection annually claims the lives of 1.7 million people says the Centers for Disease Control.

Central Voice Editor and Publisher Frank Pizzoli spoke at the Hamilton Health Center program which featured GLO, a newly-opened gathering place and resource center for young gay-bi-trans people of color.
