Transgender Day of Remembrance will be held Wed., Nov. 20 on the steps of the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Organizations hosting the annual remembrance are TransCentralPA, MCC of the Spirit Church, Trans Advocacy Pa, HACC Allies, and The Keystone Business Council. The purpose of the evening is to remember transgender individuals who have lost their lives due to violence or suicide during this past year.
In 2018, advocates tracked at least 26 deaths of transgender or gender non-conforming people in the U.S. due to fatal violence, the majority of whom were Black transgender women, as there were in 2018, HRC reports.
