“The clear message of ‘Love for all. Hatred for none.’ came across loud and clear,” says Central Voice editor and publisher Frank Pizzoli, (right) July 15 at an annual Muslim gathering with former Harrisburg resident Salaam Bhatti (left). On the day after the Pulse shooting, Bhatti flew to Orlando at his own expense to donate blood.
6,000 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA assembled in Harrisburg to celebrate the 69th Jalsa Salana USA. The gathering also included an interfaith dinner to which Central Voice was an invited guest.
This year's theme was Justice, Kindness and Kinship: An Islamic and American Imperative. The Jalsa Salana is an annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worldwide. These conventions focus on establishing peace in the community. Also present for the evening was Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse.
